CARNIVAL OF STRANGE

CARNIVAL OF STRANGE is a set of 18 instrumentals that channel surf, country, folk, jazz and cinematic influences. Composed and performed by David Reid (guitar/baritone guitar) and Thorin Dixon (drums) live in the studio as a duo with no overdubs. The tracks effectively score scenes from ‘imaginary movies’ while strikingly showcasing the empathic, and almost telepathic, interplay between the two musical protagonists.

LIGHTBULB is DAVID REID and THORIN DIXON - two quarters of critically acclaimed band The Contrast, who Steven Van Zandt once described as “One of the best bands on the planet - and England too.” 

In 2014, Reid co-formed ReidGraves with activist and poet Ron Graves, combining pop and experimental music with songs and spoken word. Reid and Graves have released three albums with Dixon contributing outstanding drums and percussion to selected tracks.
Both projects receive regular airplay around the world, with several songs by The Contrast being featured as ‘Coolest song in the World’ on Little Steven’s Underground Garage show and Sirius channels.
In 2023 Reid released a solo album, SHADOWS AND SHADES, a set of 14 acoustic and electric guitar instrumentals.
David was born in Glasgow and, although his family relocated to England, he remains very much a Scot. Meanwhile, Thorin originates from considerably further south, in Gillingham Kent.
